The Taubman Museum of Art hosts host Romanian artist Dan Perjovschi, who is creating an outdoor work of art for the museum during the period of September 20 through September 24, 2009.

The site-specific work of art will be on view, through March 2010, on the exterior overpass wall located directly across from the museum’s Norah’s Café.

Dan Perjovschi, an internationally renowned artist from Bucharest, Romania, creates site-specific works of art that are made of constellations of small images, diagrams and texts that are literally drawn from the stories that he overhears while in residence in the city where he is working. He incorporates these local elements with his own global and art world musings, including themes of life under and outside of Communist rule and other ideas that filter through his lens.

Perjovschi’s personal exhibitions and projects have been recently on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, Bloomberg Space in London, the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in Helsinki, Finland, the Wiels Center for Contemporary Art in Brussels, the Galerie Michel Rein in Paris, and other international institutions. States of Mind: Lia and Dan Perjovschi, a mid-career retrospective focusing on the variety of work created by Perjovschi and his wife Lia, was on display at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University in 2007.
